Mary E. Bernoski

Mary E. Bernoski, 71 of Plains Township, and formerly of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 5, 2024 at her home.

Born on September 16, 1952 in Plains, PA, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Jule (Hrab) Matchko.

Mary was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, Class of 1970 and was employed as a hostess and cashier in area restaurants and as a nurse’s aide while living in Warsaw, Indiana.

Mary loved playing softball for Sacred Heart Church in Warsaw, IN, playing Scrabble and enjoyed going to the casino.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband Richard Bernoski on April 12, 2006.

Surviving are her daughter Julie Weiss and her husband Andy, Ft. Mill, SC, son Robert Bernoski, Pittsburgh, PA, grandchildren Dayna, John and Tyler Weiss, and Jackson Bernoski, sisters Judy Gainard, Mediana, OH, and Betty Chaney, Plains, and her brother John “Jack” Matchko, Plains, 2 nieces.

Funeral Services for Mary will be held Friday, May 10, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA  18705, with Father Michael Kerestes, Pastor of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre.  Interment will be held in St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Pittston, PA.  Family and friends may call Friday morning from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
