Szuch, 73, of Ransom Township, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, February 17, 2024, at his home with family beside him. Born in New Kensington, PA, raised in Lower Burrell, PA he was the son of the late Louis James and Frances (Goch) Szuch. Gary was a graduate of Burrell Senior High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh. Gary moved to the Greater Wyoming Valley after the flood of 72 to help with the cleanup efforts where he eventually fell in love and started a family of his own. He was a passionate and creative chef employed by The Nook, Pittston PA, and finally at the Lourdesmont School, Clarks Summit, until his retirement. Gary and his wife opened their hearts and homes to countless children through foster care for close to three decades. He believed every child deserved to know a loving home no matter how hard life gets. He was an avid fisherman and truly enjoyed gardening. Gary loved learning; expanding the mind, heart, and soul on every level from sciences to history, magic and mystery, and the cosmic wonders of the universe. Most of all, he loved his family. His love knew no bounds and he gave it freely to the world around him. Surviving are his wife Maureen Sheridan Szuch, daughter Patricia Sweeney, West Wyoming, sons; Benjamin Szuch, Scranton, and Brandon Szuch, Lackawanna, New York, grandchildren, Joseph Skrip, West Wyoming and Emma Szuch, Shavertown, sister, Sandra Duccour and her husband Steve, Lower Burrell, PA, Brothers; David Szuch and his wife Debbie, Pittsburg, PA, and Michael Szuch and his wife Cheryl, Oceanside, CA, Nephews and Nieces, and his best friend, Banjo Pete.
