Dennis Allen Gittens, III

April 3, 2024

Dennis Allen Gittens, III, 35, beloved son of Dennis Allen and Hui Gittens, Jr. of Fairfax, VA, unexpectedly went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 3, 2024, due to complications from a medical condition. He was most assuredly a Christian, saved by God’s grace through his faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Dennis was an Air Force “brat,” attending schools in Virginia, Hawai’i, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, and eventually graduating with the Class of 2007 from Pearland High School, Texas. He subsequently attended art classes at San Jacinto College, Texas.

His family’s many moves afforded him opportunities to serve Jesus Christ and others (Mark 10:43-45) through various youth and young adult ministries, including work crews that regularly offered free maintenance to elderly members of local communities, providing disaster relief after a tornado destroyed Joplin, Missouri, in 2011, and as a Texas Baptist Men’s disaster recovery team member.

Dennis’s direct and edgy personality helped him do what he loved the way he wanted to, without fear or intimidation. Yet, he was quietly sensitive and highly supportive of those closest to him: God first, family second, and all the friends he held most dear.

Dennis enjoyed many genres of music, was proficient at keyboards and piano, and liked playing video games with his brother, Joshua, and being “chill.” His keen eye for drawing also helped him develop a unique style that captured his distinctive outlook on life. He also enjoyed being a Cub Scout, a gymnast, and playing baseball and volleyball on various Air Force recreational youth teams.

His loving family includes his parents, Dennis & Hui Gittens, Jr., Fairfax, VA; his brother Joshua Gittens and his wife Victoria, Lynchburg, VA; paternal grandparents, Dennis & Barbara Gittens, Sr., Kingston, PA; uncles and aunts: Jeanelle Hines and her husband Jeremy, Lehman, PA, David Gittens and his partner Susan Joyce, Kingston, PA, and Shelley Udzinski and her husband Robert, Honolulu, HI, cousins Michael Ramirez, Jordan and Kamri Ramirez, Aidan Gittens, and Ella Udzinski, girlfriend Marialinda Gray and her daughter Selena, and members of his mother’s family in South Korea.

Funeral services for Dennis will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 10:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with Rev. Duane Boyer, Pastor of Independent Bible Church, Duryea, officiating. Interment will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Sweet Valley, PA, and attended by family only. Family and friends may call Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
