Vincent P. Perta, 88, of Plains, passed away Wednesday evening, January 17, 2018, at his home with his family at his side.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, Vincent was the son of the late Saverio (Sam) and Columbia Sabatina Perta. He attended GAR High School and was an Army Veteran of the Korean conflict.

Vincent was employed for Craft Associates of Wilkes-Barre for many years and was also the owner of V/J’s Hideaway in Plains for 50 years.

He is preceded in death by his Wife Jane Baronowski Perta on July 20, 1994 and Son Vincent Perta on May 29, 2000 and infant Great-Grandson Joseph Walkowiak and Sister, Rose Shurmanek.

Surviving are his Daughters Patti Shelley and her husband Garry, Plains; Darlene Lacomis and husband Joe, Pittston; Son, Sam Perta and his wife Lisa, Kingston; daughter-in-law Elaine Perta, Plains, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Vincent’s family would like to thank Erwine Home Health, especially his faithful aid, Chrissy Verga.

Funeral will be held Monday, January 22, 2018 at 9:15 am from the Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Corpus Christi Parish, Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston, with Monsignor John J. Sempa, Pastor, officiating. Interment with Military Honors accorded by the United States Army and the Plains American Legion Military Detail will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Family and friends may call Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the funeral home.

Memorial donations if desired may be made In Vincent’s name to Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston.
