Verda B. Podmonski, 84 of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Thursday evening, February 21, 2019 at the inpatient unit of Residential Hospice, Geisinger South, Wilkes-Barre, with her family by her side.

Born in Plymouth, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna (Wolfe) Nawratowicz.

Verda was a graduate of Plymouth High School, and was employed as a seamstress at Empire Dress, United Pants, and various dress factories until her retirement.

She was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Church, Plains, and the I.L.G.W.U.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert G. Podmonski on January 29, 2016, grandson Jason Lee, infant siblings Thomas and Anna Nawratowicz, and sons-in-law Louis Lee and Clark Hiestand.

Surviving are her son Gary Podmonski, daughter Darlene Lee, both of Wilkes-Barre, granddaughter Tanya Hillard and her husband Kyle, Sisters Josephine Kline, Dorothy Teresinski, both of Plains, and Carol Herbert, Richmond, Virginia, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 10:00 am at Saints Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, PA 18705, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call Tuesday morning from 9:00 am until the time of mass at church.
