Timothy E. Turnbaugh, 65 of Plains, Twp., passed away suddenly Thursday evening, January 9, 2014, at his home.

Born in Tyrone, PA, he was the son of Martin Norris Turnbaugh of Tyrone, PA, and the late Marie C. (Caldwell) Turnbaugh.

Tim was a graduate of Tyrone Area High School, attended Williamson Trade School in Media, PA, and received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education from The Pennsylvania State University.  He was employed by the Wilkes-Barre Area Career and Technical Center for 35 years, retiring as Assistant Administrator in 2008. He was a member of Stella Presbyterian Church, Forty Fort and The Vocational Administrators of Pennsylvania.

Tim was an avid Penn State Football fan, loved to work in his garden, and most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his father Martin are his wife of 34 years the former Elaine Serra, children Frank Turnbaugh, Amy Vissotski, and her husband Anthony, Heather Triola and her husband Jeffrey, Rick Turnbaugh, and Timothy Turnbaugh, all of Plains, grandchildren Anthony and Aleah Vissotski, Madison and Nicholas Triola, and Gabriel and Ezra Turnbaugh, brother Thomas Turnbaugh and his partner Marianne Bartley, Lebanon, sister Margaret “Peg” Weakland and her husband Cliff, Tyrone, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 13, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street  Plains, PA  18705, with Rev. William Lukesh, officiating.  Interment will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Plains.  Friends may call Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Stella Presbyterian Church  1700 Wyoming Avenue  Forty Fort, PA  18704 or to the SPCA of Luzerne County  524 E. Main Street  Wilkes-Barre, PA  18702.
