Stanley A. Niznik, 90 of the North End section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 22, 2017 at Timber Ridge Health Care Center, Plains.

Born in Wilkes-Barre he was the son of the late Peter & Mary (Doktor) Niznik. He attended James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre and was an Army Veteran of World War II. Stanley was employed at the Tobyhanna Army Depot as an Electronic Technician until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Andre Bessette Parish, North Wilkes-Barre, the Brookside American Legion, Post 837 for 71 consecutive years, the Jonestown HAM Radio and Murgas Amateur Radio Club.

He and his wife the former Rosemary Lapinsky celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on June 10, 2016.

He was preceded in death by his sister Albina Kuczynski and Katherine Dymond, brothers Joseph, Michael, Frank, and John Niznik.

Surviving in addition to his wife Rosemary, are his son Thomas Niznik, Wilkes-Barre, daughters Diane Shevchuk and her husband David and Rosemarie Niznik and her companion Raymond Millholland, all of Chicago, IL. Grandson Jason Niznik, Pittston, Brother Edward Niznik, Florida, Nieces and Nephews.

Stanley’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Timber Ridge Health Care Center for the wonderful care given to Stanley and his wife Rosemary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 6, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Andre Bessette Parish, 668 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. Internment with Military Honors will be held in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Memorial Highway, Dallas. Friends and Family may call at the church from 10:00 am to the time of service the morning of the Mass. Arrangements by the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blue Chip Animal Rescue, 974 Lockville Road, Dallas, PA 18612.
