Samuel R. Peters, 75, “Poppa Sam” of Pringle, PA, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Sunday February 26, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family after a 10-year battle with Multiple Myeloma and CHF.

Born on June 9, 1941 in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Margaret (O’Malley) and George Hayes, and Samuel Peters.

Sam and his wife Dorothy were married on March 12, 1960 and would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this March.
Sam lived his life for his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed bowling and was a past member of the Wyoming Valley Men’s Bowling Association until his illness. He also was a past Assistant Chief of the Pringle Pioneer Volunteer Fire Company for many years, and was a member of the Henry Citizens Club in Plains.

Preceding him in death are his Infant Sister, Barbara Ann Peters, Grandchildren; Harry Peters, Jonathan and Pamela Kaufer and Samuel Manta.

In addition to his wife Dorothy, he is survived by his daughters Julie and Rich Manta, Shavertown, Mary and Tito Georgetti, Plains, Kim Casterline, Pringle, Dolores and Ken Kaufer, Ashley, Renee and Gary Davis, Larksville, and Michelle and Chris Collis, Wilkes-Barre. Sam’s grandchildren Amanda and Tyler “The King” Davis, Ashley and Jessica Casterline, Courtney Kaufer. Sam’s three shining stars his granddaughters, Carney and Gabbie Collis and his great-granddaughter, Aniyah Davis. Brothers Robert Peters and wife Rita, Edwardsville and Thomas Peters, Dallas, Nephews and Nieces and extend family friends Miranda and Greyson Kemp, Carol Gushanas, Justin Parr, and Brittany Hall.

The family wished to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Michael Kovalick and Anita McCole RN. Case Manager, Geisinger Dallas. Dr. Mark Bernardi and Keira Levandowski, PA. Dr. Arthur Meyers, Sacrad Heart Hospice, Angela and Danielle of Personal Care Health, and special thanks the Lisa and Art Owens for the guidance and support.

Funeral will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 9:15 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Resurrection of the Lord Polish National Catholic Church, 35 Zerby Avenue, Edwardsville, PA 18704, with Rev. Lucian Urbaniak, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Family and friends may call Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

The family request the flowers be omitted.
