Ruth A. Grimes, 86 of the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away, Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Highland Healthcare Center, Wellsville, New York.

Born in Miners Mills, she was the daughter of the late Peter J. and Ruth (Bell) Grimes.

Ruth was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1945 and was the caregiver to her family for her entire life.

Ruth was a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Miners Mills until its merger with St. Benedict’s Parish, Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Mary Grimes and Sarah Kane, and her brother Peter “Joe” Grimes.

Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Sharon Haven, Hartford, CT, Peter Grimes, Washington, Michael Grimes, Genesee, PA, and Kelly Lynch, Wellsville, NY, several great-nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, September 22, 2014 at 10:00 am in St. Benedict’s Parish, St. Dominic’s Church  155 Austin Avenue  Wilkes-Barre, PA  18705, with Father Joseph A. Kearney, pastor, officiating.  Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp.  Friends are invited to go directly to church Monday morning.
