Rosemary E. Wachilla, 92 of Plains Township, passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 3, 2017 at St. Luke’s Villa, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Mary (Jones) Bucknavage.

Rosemary was employed as a waitress at the Plains American Legion for many years until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Wachilla on June 6, 1986, son John Wachilla in 1995, granddaughters Laura Wachilla and Stephanie Mione, sisters Theresa Chonko, Catherine Kelly and Florence Kohl, and her brother Martin Bucknavage.

Surviving are her sons Stephen Wachilla and his wife Christine, and Richard Wachilla, daughter Debra Caffrey, all of Plains, 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren who thought Rosemary was the best grandmother ever, sister Helen Jowanna, Jacksonville, FLA, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 6, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with Father John C. Lambert, officiating. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Byzantine Cemetery, Lake Street, Dallas. Family and friends may call Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
