Shubzda, 77 of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, January 21, 2021 at her home with her family at her side. Born in Plymouth, she was the daughter of the late Zigmund and Leona (Wisneski) Roskowski. Romaine was a graduate of Plymouth High School, Class of 1960, Wilkes-Barre School of Nursing and Wilkes University. She was employed at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital as a nurse and Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center as a Certified Diabetes Educator. She was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Church, Plains. Romaine was an avid quilter and made over 50 quilts for family and friends. She was also an avid reader and loved solving jigsaw puzzles. Romaine also loved to go Country and Western dancing at the Anthracite Rose Dance Club in Dupont. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Antoinette Thomas. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Stanley Shubzda, sons Jeffrey Shubzda and his wife Jennifer, Emmaus, PA, James Shubzda and his wife Jacqueline, Plains, and John Shubzda and his wife Julie, Blaine, TN, Grandchildren Emma and Ian Shubzda, Christian and Brendan Shubzda, and Tyler Shubzda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 10:00 am at Saints Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, PA 18705, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, officiating. Inurnment will be held in the parish cemetery, Plains. Due to the ongoing pandemic, restrictions have been put in place. Those attending the Funeral Mass, please follow the practice of social distancing and masks are required at the church. Arrangements entrusted to the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705. Memorial donations may be made to Saints Peter and Paul Parish Food Pantry.Romaine C.
