Robert “Krop” Kropiewnicki

Robert Kropiewnicki, 84, of Plains Township, passed away peacefully in the early morning of June 3, 2023, at Allied Services Hospice Unit, Mead Street, Wilkes-Barre, after a brief illness.

Bob was born in Plains, on August 5, 1938, to the late Joseph and Anna (Gayewski) Kropiewnicki.

He was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, Class of 1956, and attended Villanova University on a Baseball Scholarship. Bob lettered in three sports at Plains Memorial High School: Football, Basketball, and Baseball. At Villanova University, his record for strikeouts still stands after 65 years. During his college career he was scouted and approached by all the Major League Baseball Teams at the time. He decide to sign with the Cincinnati Reds receiving the highest “Bonus” paid at that time.

When his career in baseball ended with a torn shoulder, he was employed in sales working for Pensupreme Ice Cream, Muskin Pool Company, Olympic Pools, and Poseidon Pools. He was a long time member of the Fox Hill Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf with his brother and friends.  He also enjoyed watching sports on TV and spending time with his family

Bob is preceded in death by his brother George Kropiewnicki, sister Connie Szustak, and daughter-in-law Joy Kropiewnicki.

Surviving are Bob’s wife of 62 years the former Margaret Motsko, sons, Dr., Robert Kropiewnicki and Mark Kropiewnicki and his wife Margie; grandchildren Lauren Kropiewnicki, Esq., and Matthew and Luke Kropiewnicki; brother, Joseph Kropiewnicki and sister Maryann Kropiewnicki, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 10:00 am in Saints Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road Plains PA, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, officiating. A live stream of the Funeral Mass will be on Saints Peter & Paul Parish FACEBOOK page.  Family and friends may call Thursday Morning from 9:00 am until the time of Mass at the Church. Arrangements entrusted to the Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 South Plains.
