Dear Mrs. Meehan and Dave, we are very sorry for your loss. While we did not personally know Bob, everything that has been written proves that he was quite talented and much loved. Rest in peace Bob.

Bob's Family, I was stunned to see Bobs obituary today. I am so sorry for your loss. I worked on many projects with Bob at Tobyhanna throughout the years. He was a superb Electronic Engineer with vast knowledge of the field and meticulous attention to details. Bob would always have time to answer my questions in my quest to accomplish task for the soldiers we supported - he had the answers. When we found time to converse as friends, we found that we shared the same likes for classic rock musicians' as well as many similar ties to the Valley. I also found out he was "seriously funny" --- his jokes were at first delivered with a serious tone and then as his words registered, you smiled, and then he smiled -- the same smile as we see in this picture that accompanied this post. Bob will be missed and may his memory be eternal. James Druby

So sorry to hear about Bobby. I worked with him in engineering for many years. Bobby was perhaps the smartest engineer i ever worked with, and one of the nicest and most sincere guys i knew. He helped me and my son design the power systems for our microbrewery. He always mentioned coming up, but never did. Bobby and i went to Hawaii for Tobyhanna years ago and he loved it there. If i can dig up some pics i will. Happy to have known him !!! RIP Bobby

Bob was an incredible mentor, one of the smartest people I've ever worked with. I was a fresh-out-of college mechanical engineer in SATCOM and Bob was the electrical engineer on many of our projects. Bob not only created excellent electrical designs, but knew all the theory behind them and would explain everything I ever asked (and I asked him a lot of questions) We had some great times on work trips up to Sagamore Hill, MA, whether we were braving a record setting snowstorm to upgrade the solar antenna or having some beers together in Salem, MA, I always enjoyed working with Bob. He had a great taste in music and was always interesting to talk to on our long road trips. Bob also helped me design many of the electrical systems that control our brewery today, though I don't think he ever got the chance to taste our beer. Bob, you were one of my favorite coworkers, you'll be missed. I wish we got to spend more time together after your retirement. -Kevin Curran

Dear Dave and family, I am so sorry about your brother Robert. I know the pain of losing a sibling and I wanted you to know that I am thinking about you. I finally decided to retire. It seemed like the appropriate time. I will miss you and keep you in my prayers. You were one of my favorite Coughlin colleagues. With deepest sympathy, Mary

Leer Brothers Band

Posted on:
September 16, 2020

The Leer Brothers Band were shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of their talented and loyal set-up, lighting and sound tech Bobby Meehan. Bob was brought into the band as a Coughlin student by Jay Leer. It didn't take long to recognize that Leer was right: "This kid's got a lot on the ball". During his time with the band Bob was consistently on top of anything electrical - cables were quiet, no pops or buzzing (except at Gennetti's - we would tease Bob and laugh about changing all those damn rheostats!!) and the PA was always ready and willing to take our abuse. Bob and Decker were singularly responsible for capturing the most complete live Leer Brothers Band recording at Bishop OReilly High School. It was decided at the spur of the moment and is a testament to the talent, skill and artistry of "our guys". It can be heard here: https://soundcloud.com/user-602317201/leerbrosbandbishop-oreilly-hs-feb-1982?fbclid=IwAR0j-tCTN3-bXslPHfFNJSeRBEny2A3bOsAn-etyxwrlKpsgjL6dx_YBJ5k Rest in peace Bob - We're sure you'll have things set up when we get there.
