Rita T. Mrozinski, 89 of the Miners Mill section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Tuesday evening, December 8, 2020 at the United Methodist Homes, Wesley Village Campus, Pittston, from complications of COVID-19.

Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Anthony & Frances (Zelonis) Stanukenas.

Rita was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1949 and was employed at Carter Rubber Footwear, Wilkes-Barre. A devout Catholic, Rita was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church Wilkes-Barre, until its closure and currently a member of St. Dominic Church, Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre.

Rita was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan, never missed listening or watching a game. She was a competitive archer, competed and won archery competitions for many years. She was an animal lover, she loved her cats and dogs and always took care of her outdoor birds, squirrels and chipmunks too.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Edward A. Mrozinski on August 11, 2012, infant son Edward Mrozinski, and her sister Eleanor Knesis.

Surviving are her daughters Joan Anders and her husband Jerrold, Elkins Park, PA, Debra Brinker and her husband Barry, Jeffersonville, PA, and Jane Turner and her husband James, Plains, grandchildren Jessica and Douglas Anders, Jeff and Matthew Carroll, and Courtney and Stephen Turner, Great-grandchildren Avery and Emily Carroll, Grayson and Catherine Anders, Colin and Emma Foberg, and Valerie Turner-Schutz.

A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 11, 2020 at Saints Peter & Paul Church, Plains, PA 18705, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, and Deacon John Knesis, Rita’s nephew, officiating. The service can be viewed on Saints Peter & Paul Parish FACEBOOK Page at 10:00 am Friday. Private inurnment will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hudson section of Plains.

Masks and/or face coverings are required at all times at church and/or cemetery and please practice social distancing for the family attending. Arrangements entrusted to the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.
