Nicholas D. Polifko, 48, of the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Tuesday morning, September 1, 2020 with his loving family by his side at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, after a very courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on September 23, 1971 in Blytheville, Arkansas. Nicky was the son of Donna and Leo Lamooney and Nicholas J. and Margaret Polifko. He was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, class of 1989. He worked at Benco Dental and as an EMT at TransMed Ambulance and was currently employed at Medico Industries in Quality Control as an ultra-sonic tester where he’s worked for many years. He was also a board member of the Triangle Club in Miners Mills.

Nick was an avid Eagles football fan and participated in many sports events including softball, bowling, pool and dart leagues. He especially loved camping, fishing and hunting.

He was a quiet, gentle person with a never- ending smile who was always there to support anyone in need. He took that smile to an outdoor celebration of his life that was held at the PAV in Hudson on August 8th where he shared memories and stories with friends and family. The family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of support that Nick received during his fight.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Donald and Anna Marie Williams and Nicholas and Gertrude Polifko, Uncle Gerald Williams and cousin Amber Olinits.

He is survived by his loving wife the former Sandi Tabaka and his daughter Rhianna. Also surviving are children Rebecca Williams and Jayson Weidman, Brother Dr. Kevin Polifko and his wife Dr. Susan Polifko; sisters Amanda Lamooney and husband Leonard; Donna Keyes and her husband Kevin; and Brother Edward Polifko and his wife Amy. He is also survived by a niece and nephews: Kevin, Susannah and Elijah Polifko and Ryan and Brady Keyes. His cousins, which were his best friends, the many friends he met during his lifetime and his extended family will be left behind to mourn his passing.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 10:00 am at Saints Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, PA 18705, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, officiating.
