Nancy C. Ratajczak, 82 of Laflin, died peacefully at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center on Tuesday May 3, 2022, after her long and tiring battle with cancer.

She was born on April 21, 1940 in Meckesville, PA, daughter of the late Clyde L. Kibler and Anna L. Knappenberger-Kibler-Haney. After graduating from Jim Thorpe High School in 1958, she obtained her license in cosmetology from Empire Beauty School in Wilkes-Barre, PA. It was there she met her husband of 58 years, John F. Ratajczak. After their wedding in June of 1962, Nancy and John began to start a family. While living in Wilkes-Barre for a few years, Nancy and John built one of the first homes in the Oakwood Park section of Laflin. Nancy and John started their own Barber/Beauty Salon in Wilkes-Barre and also opened a second Salon in Kingston, PA. Unfortunately, the Agnes Flood of 1972 destroyed the second business. After the flood they renamed their business Hair Associates which they would operate for more than 30 years together.

Some of her favorite past times were Tennis, Walking, Cooking, Sewing, Quilting, Interior Decorating, Vacationing, and spending time with her friends and family. She was a devout member of Saint Maria Goretti Parish in Laflin where she always had time to volunteer for the many Bazaars and events.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Alice Getz, Gladys Getz, Edna Brong, her brothers Richard Kibler and Claire Kibler.

She is survived by her Husband John F. Ratajczak, her Daughter Renee M. Musto and her husband Ronald, Son John D. Ratajczak and his wife Mary Ann, sisters Melva McGardle, and Gloria Annawalt, Her grandsons John A. Ratajczak, Evan and Kyle Musto, and her great Grandson Carson John Ratajczak.

The family would like to thank all that have prayed and helped Nancy in her time of need. The family would also like to thank Dr. Greenwald, Dr. Harostock, Dr. Gibbons, and all other medical professionals and friends that helped the family in the care of their mother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 10:00 at St. Maria Goretti Church, 42 Redwood Drive, Laflin, PA 18702, with Father Alex Roche, Pastor, officiating. The Parish Rosary Group will pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Rosary in the Church 30 minutes before the Mass. All are invited to attend. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Maternity Cemetery, West Wyoming. Family and friends may call Friday evening, May 6, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.

Memorial donations may be made to Medical Oncology Prescription Assistance Fund, 382 Pierce Street, Kingston, PA 18704, or to the charity of one’s choice.
