Michael “Jerry” Gildea, 90, of Plains Township, passed away Monday evening, January 15, 2018 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in the Midvale section of Plains, Jerry was the son of the late William and Edna (Shovlin) Gildea.

He was an Army Veteran of World War II and was employed for Nachlis Furniture of Plains until his retirement. He was a member of the Plains American Legion Joseph E. Conlon Post 558, and a member of Saints Peter & Paul Church, Plains. He was an avid bowler and dart player.

Jerry and his wife the former Jeanne Gray celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on February 14, 2017. Jerry’s “Pride and Joy” was his grandchildren. He went through life with a song in his heart and a smile on his face for everyone he met.

He was preceded in death by his Brothers Carl and William Gildea; Sisters Edna Gildea, and Betty Jane Arrandale.

Surviving in addition to his Wife Jeanne Gildea are his daughters Kathleen Segar and her Husband Wayne, Bear Creek, Michelle Rohrbeck and her Husband, Atty. J. Frederick Rohrbeck, Moosic, grandsons, Wayne Segar and his Wife Sarah and Michael Rohrbeck, granddaughter, Atty. Kerry Rohrbeck, Nephews and Nieces.

The Gildea family would like to thank Dr. David Dalessandro, Dr. Edward Carey and Dr. Loren Mangino for the years for the care and kindness of their Husband and Father.

Funeral will be held Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11:00 am from the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc. 20 South Main Street Plains with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am in Saints Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, PA 18705, with Father Gerald J. Gurka, officiating. Interment with Military Honors Accorded by the Plains American Legion and the U.S. Army will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Family and friends may call Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
