Michael J. O’Brien, 65 of the East End section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Saturday morning, September 9, 2017 at Little Flower Manor Nursing Home, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Michael J. and Margaret “Peggy” (Hogan) O’Brien.

Michael attended James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Tom Baloga.

Surviving are his sisters Mary Davis and her husband Glenn, Laflin, Catherine Augustine and her husband John, Mountaintop, and Peggy Baloga, Wilkes-Barre, brothers Frank and his wife Laura, and Jim and his wife Tina, all of Hackettstown, New Jersey, Pat, Centennial, Colorado, Ed and his wife Sherri, Plains, and Tom and his wife Jill, Wilkes-Barre, several nieces and nephews.

Michael’s family would like to thank the nurses, aides, and staff of Little Flower Manor for their kindness and excellent care of Michael over the past 5 years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 10:00 am in St. Andre Bessette Parish, 668 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with Father Kenneth M. Seegar, Pastor, officiating. Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to church Wednesday morning. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Center, 2010 Adams Avenue, Scranton, PA 18509 or to the Charity of One’s Choice in Michael’s name.
