Mary I. Barbacci, 100 of Plains Township, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, October 30, 2018, at her home.

Born in Plains, she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Josephine (Parlanti) Pellegrini.

Mary attended township schools and was owner/operator along with her husband Armando “Herman” Barbacci of the Plains Poultry Market and the Plains Delicatessen for 45 years.

She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church, Plains, and its Altar and Rosary Society until its closure and merger with Saints Peter & Paul Church. She was also a Charter Member of the Rotary Ann’s. In June of this year, Mary was honored with a 100th birthday celebration by her family, with many friends and family in attendance.

She was preceded in death by her husband Armando “Herman” Barbacci on April 19, 1982, Brothers Louis “Hook” Pellegrini and Roland Pellegrini, sister Vera Ostroski.

Surviving are her daughters Norma Nardone, Plains, and Vivian Greenberg Fidrych, Palm Harbor, FL, son Joseph Barbacci and his wife Rosemary, Monroeville, PA, and Naples, FL, 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, brother Joseph Pellegrini, Pittston, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held Monday, November 5, 2018 at 9:30 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Saints Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, officiating. Entombment will be held in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville. Family and friends may call Sunday afternoon from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Saints Peter & Paul Church Food Pantry, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, PA 18705, to Hospice of The Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive #7, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702, or Catherine McAuley House, 121 Church Street, Plymouth, PA 18651 in Mary’s memory.
