Mary C. Hughes, 74 of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Saturday evening, July 23, 2022 at her home with her family by her side.

Mary was born in Old Forge, September 1, 1947, and was the daughter of the late James and Florence (Snyder) Cunard. She was a 1965 graduate of Old Forge High School. She was employed for many years by Topps Chewing Gum, Sears Logistics, and most recently The Nutrition Group.

Mary loved trips to the beach, family outings at Knoebels, playing bingo, and attending local picnics and bazaars. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

Mary was preceded in death by her sister Ann Marie Turner and her brother Frank Snyder.

She is survived by her beloved partner of 38 years, Edward Shatrowskas, daughters Debra Hughes and partner Jen Gruenloh; Staci Hughes and partner Julianne George; son Willard Hughes; step-son Edward Shatrowskas Jr., Grandchildren Louis, Michel, and Michael Hughes, and Zachary Shatrowskas and great-granddaughter Harper Hughes. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters, Edmund Cunard and wife Marylou, Wilkes Barre; Paul Cunard and wife Joan, Hanover; James Cunard, Old Forge; Eugene Cunard and wife Karen, Askam; Maggie West, Avoca; Florence Malczynski and husband Mark, Avoca; Sharon Cross and husband Wilmar, Pittston; and Judith Clarkson, Cedar Park, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Mary will be held Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 10:00 am at Pittston Cemetery, Pittston, PA. Arrangements entrusted to the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.
