Beloved son, grandson, sibling, husband, and father, Mark Thomas Rogers, 44 of Hanover Township, died of a heart attack on Wednesday, September 28, 2016.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of Dr. John and Margaret (Maier) Rogers of Plains Township.

Mark was a graduate of Bishop Hoban High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1990, and graduated from College Misericordia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work.

Mark was a sweet and generous man with a big and giving heart. He loved people. He would give you the shirt off of his back, and the first to offer a helping hand. He hated formal functions, but he loved a good party and a good conversation. He was a loyal friend, as loyal to the newest acquaintance as he was to the oldest friend. He was most at home serving customers and friends, both as the owner of Mark’s Pub, Wilkes-Barre, and as manager of Burger King in Kingston. Mark started his business to create a place where people could be happy and he and others could meet and feel at home. He also wanted a place to cheer on his lifelong favorite teams: The New York Yankees, The Pittsburgh Steelers, and Notre Dame with friends and family.

Above all in his life, Mark loved his girls, Marissa and Jocelyn. He said so often, “They’re the only good thing I’ve done, and they’re all I’ve ever wanted.” Rest in peace, Mark. You will be missed so much by so many.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Charles Rogers, and Clarence and Catherine (Yeager) Maier, and Father-in-law James Dougher.

Surviving are his wife of 19 years Katie (Dougher) Rogers, Daughters Marissa and Jocelyn, Parents Dr. John and Margaret Rogers, Sister Kerry Rogers, Brother Brian Rogers and his Wife Brooke and their children George and Sam, Grandmother Geraldine Rogers, Mother-in-law Mary (McHale) Dougher, and many loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Sisters and Brothers-in-law, Nieces, and Nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 10:00 am in St. Nicholas Church, 226 South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702, with Father Joseph Verespy, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Friends and family may call Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at St. Nicholas Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scholarship Fund at Holy Redeemer High School, 159 South Pennsylvania Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.

Arrangements by the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.
