M. Patricia Barbacci, nee Hudanick, 87, died on April 22, 2017, surrounded by her daughters at the Windsor Colonies Assisted Living Center in North Canton, Ohio.

She was born on October 16, 1929 in Wilkes-Barre to the late Margaret Mulligan Hudanick and John Hudanick, Sr. On June 28, 1952, she married Orlando Barbacci, to whom she was married almost 61 years. She was a graduate of the first Licensed Practical Nurse class of the Canton Ohio City Schools program.

She was a longtime resident of North Canton, Ohio, parishioner of St. Paul Catholic Church and member of their Altar & Rosary Society. She was the daughter of a coal miner and grew up during the Depression. Patricia had a great empathy and compassion for those less fortunate and knew the power of education. She was a proud Democrat, loved to read and garden, and spend time with her family.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother John Hudanick, Jr., an infant sister, adopted mother Marie Galloway and nephew Joseph Hudanick.

She is survived by daughters Marguerite Barbacci (Ted Rogers) of Manns Choice, Pa., Jo Anne Barbacci, Ohio and Lisa Barbacci, Medina, Ohio, goddaughter Patricia Proffit (Jeffrey) and daughters, niece Johnna Sumser (Michael) and children, nephew John Hudanick III, cousins, numerous nieces and nephews. She was a beloved aunt and was honored to be called grandmother by Ayat, Hassanayn, Zaynab, Fatymah and Aly Joseph of Toledo, Ohio and Claire Corder and Kellan Adam Wade of Stark County, Ohio.

Her daughters would like to extend their gratitude to the nursing staff at Windsor Medical Center and Crossroads Hospice for the care and support provided to their mother. The family would also like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the many physicians, nurse practitioners and nurses at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation for the “world class” care they provided for many years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 1, 2017 at 11:00 am in St. Frances X. Cabrini Church, Carverton section of Wyoming, with Father Vincent Dang, Officiating.
