Louis H. Cardoni, Sr., 86, of the Hilldale section of Plains Township, died Monday morning at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Hilldale, he was the son of the late Louis and Jennie Leonardi Cardoni, and was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School class of 1945 and King’s College Wilkes-Barre. He also attended Temple University, Michigan State University and the University of Colorado.

Lou was a Field Auditor for the Field Accounting Services of Pennsylvania and retired after serving as assistant Bureau Director in charge of the Field Accounting Services for the Bureau of Employed Security, Labor & Industry of Pennsylvania.

He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the 109th Field Artillery 28th Division 1st Battalion from 1948 to 1952 attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class.
Lou was a member of SS.Peter & Paul Church, Plains; the Hilldale Italian Club serving as Secretary, Plains American Legion, Joseph E. Conlon Post 558, Past President of the Plains Rotary where he was honor as a Paul Harris Recipient, Past President of the Hilldale Community Center and was Past Owner of Five Star Pizza and Miniature Golf, Plains.

Lou served on the Plains Township Recreation Board for over 35 years serving  as Past President and currently as Vice President and was very  instrumental and proud of one the finest Recreation facilities in Pennsylvania.

He is preceded in death by his Wife the former Ellen Dooley on Jan, 14, 2005 and Brother Wilfred (Bill) Cardoni.

Surviving are his Son Louis Cardoni Jr. and His Wife Carol, Forty Fort; Daughters Maureen Riley and Kathy Cardoni, Plains; Grandchildren; Jennifer, Eric and Scott Cardoni and Kasey and Jordan Riley, nephews and nieces.

Funeral will be held Thursday at 9 am from the Corcoran Funeral Home Inc. 20 South Main Street Plains with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 :30 am in SS. Peter & Paul Church Plains. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery Plains.

Friends may call Wednesday from 5to 8 pm.
