Loretta Anne Knorr Bufalino

Loretta Anne Knorr Bufalino, 87 of West Pittston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at her home.

Born on January 8, 1936 in Plains, PA, she was the daughter of George C. and Teresa (Duddy) Knorr.

Loretta was a 1953 alumnus of Sacred Heart High School, Plains (where she was elected head cheerleader). She also was a graduate of Wyoming Seminary Dean School of Business. In her early years she served as secretary to Attorneys Charles Shea and Joseph Gallagher where she met her husband the late Attorney Charles J. Bufalino, Jr, son of Attorney and Mrs. Charles J. Bufalino of West Pittston.

Loretta and Charles were married April 4, 1959 and together they raised five sons in their West Pittston home where she resided until her passing.

While raising her five sons remained her life’s greatest achievement, she wasted no time garnishing her real estate license for a successful career in real estate once her children were finished with their schooling.

Nevertheless, her children remained her sole priority and she was finally able to claim some granddaughters as well as grandsons in the ensuing years. She was a warm, loving, and dedicated mother and grandmother. Grace under pressure was her innate disposition throughout her entire life, and she both loved and was loved by all who had the privilege to know her.

She loved sports of all kind, but was a lifelong fan of Notre Dame Football and Villanova Basketball and became an avid golfer in her later years playing at her home course, Fox Hill Country Club. Sunday meals at home were a favorite weekly anticipation and holidays with her family much the same.

Loretta was a member of St. Barbara’s Parish, Exeter PA. She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Attorney Charles J. Bufalino, Jr. and her brothers George and Dudley Knorr.

Surviving are her sons Attorney Charles J. Bufalino, III and his wife Maureen of Kingston Township, Dr. Kevin T. Bufalino, Philadelphia, James C. Bufalino, Los Angeles, CA, Attorney Brian A. Bufalino and his wife Kathy, Shavertown, and Attorney Mark W. Bufalino, Trucksville, grandchildren Arianna, Nicolas, Ava, Samantha and Michael.

Funeral will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Barbara’s Parish, 212 Memorial Avenue, Exeter, PA, 18643. Interment will be held in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.

Family and friends may call Saturday morning from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at St. Barbara’s Parish and all are encouraged to attend the Mass to follow at 11:00 am in Exeter, PA.  Arrangements entrusted to the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA  18705.
