Lillian M. Lupas, 86 of Wilkes-Barre, and formerly of Laflin and Plains Township, passed away Tuesday evening, November 9, 2021 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Plains, PA.

Born in Olyphant, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Kanjorski) Novitsky.

Lillian was a graduate of Olyphant High School, Class of 1952 where she was the class Valedictorian, and Scranton State School of Nursing. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at Scranton State Hospital, the VA Hospital, East Orange, NJ, and later at Washington D.C. VA Medical Center.

For most of her life, Lillian was a stay at home mom and caregiver for her special needs daughter, Joanne. Her love for and devotion to Joanne was extraordinary and has left a lasting impression upon her family and those who knew her as a shining example of the remarkable bond between a mother and child. Her children, grandchildren, and newly born great-grandchild were the joys of her life. Lillian enjoyed reading, discussing world history, current events, listening to all types of music and rarely missed an episode of Jeopardy.

She was preceded in death by her husband Atty. Anthony J. Lupas, daughter Joanne Marie Lupas, and her sisters Jean Kindred and Helen Roberts.

Surviving are her daughter Diane Black and her husband Ray, Hanover Twp., sons A. J. Lupas and his wife Marlene, McLean, VA, and Judge David Lupas and his wife Cheryl, Laflin, grandchildren Raymond Black and his wife Parras, Shelly Leap and her husband Brian, Kyle, Jacob, Abigail, and Gwyneth Lupas, Jay and Josh Lupas, great-grandson Carson Leap, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Maria Goretti Church, 42 Redwood Drive, Laflin, PA 18702 or to St. Vincent de Paul Kitchen, 39 E. Jackson Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701 in Lillian’s memory.
