Obituaries » Leona Savage (Kemzura) April 19, 1934 - December 9, 2021 Leona Savage, 87 of Pringle, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 9, 2021 at the Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dallas. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Reback) Kemzura. Leona attended Swoyersville High School, and was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne. Leona was employed at Chacko’s Bowling Lanes, Luzerne and Wilkes-Barre, for over 40 years. Leona was loved by everyone who knew her at Chacko’s. She took pride in getting to know all her customers and she enjoyed making them smile. She was like a “mother hen” to her junior bowlers for years and loved spending time with everyone, not only those in front of the counter but behind the counter, too. The Chacko family was not just her employer, but her extended family, and she enjoyed working there. Leona had a beautiful operatic voice and due to this, many asked her to sing at their weddings. She enjoyed singing and was a member of the Sacred Heart/Holy Family choir for years, singing in several minstrels throughout the valley throughout the course of her life. Leona loved drawing, bird watching, find-a-word puzzles, and of course lottery tickets; but there is nothing she loved more than her family and she will be extremely missed. She was preceded in death by her husband Jacob J. Savage, Jr. on January 20, 2015, whom she was married to for 60 years, and her brother Charles “Sonny” Kemzura, and infant brother Edward Kemzura. Surviving are her daughters Lee Ann Holub and her husband Edward, Shavertown, Georgette Harper and her husband Frank, Swoyersville, and Teresa Mangan and her husband Scott, Lehman, grandchildren Justin Kotarski, Courtney Grabiec, Sarah Stein, Mitchell Harper and Lucas Tomko, great-grandchildren Hunter, Gavin, and Ryan Kotarski, Everly and Hudson Stein, and Beau Harper, step-grandchildren Kaitlin, Scott, Jr., and Trinity, step-great-grandchildren Ariana and Joshua, Jr., Sisters Loretta Palm, Harrisburg, Charlotte Hoosic, Clinton, OH, and Rose Harnen, Huntsville, AL, nieces and nephews.
