Kathleen was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Plains, and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing,

Wilkes-Barre.  She was employed as a Registered Nurse at Luzerne County Juvenile Detention Center, Wilkes-Barre, until her retirement.

She also enjoyed her casino trips and her Friday Lunch Crew with her friends.

She was a member of St. Benedict’s Parish, Parsons and was a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Miners Mills, and its Altar and Rosary Society.  Kathleen, along with the late Marie McHugh had the distinct honor of locking the front door of Blessed Sacrament Church the final time, signifying its closure and the establishment of St. Benedict’s Parish.  She was a member of the Donegal Society of Greater Wilkes-Barre, The Red Hats Society (Tequila Rose Chapter), and the Plains Senior Citizens Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband William E. McDermott on March 17, 2008, son William P. McDermott and daughter-in-law Cheryl (Plis) McDermott, brothers John and Edward Cunningham, sisters Mildred McGraw, Anna Martin, Mary Hassard, and Helen “Nellie” McDermott.
