Kathleen A. Loftus, 59 of the Port Griffith section of Jenkins Township, passed away surrounded by her family, Wednesday afternoon, December 8, 2021 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Plains Township.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on August 4, 1962, she was the daughter of the late John “Jack” and Mary (Philbin) Lavan.

Kathy was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, Class of 1980 and attended Luzerne County Community College. She was employed as a secretary at Mitchell Lumber, Pittston, for 20 years and also was a cook at Marianacci’s Restaurant, Wyoming for over 10 years. She was a member of the ITLO Club, Hilldale section of Plains, and the Lithuanian Club, Inkerman.

Kathy’s children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. Her smile beamed every time one of her grandchildren entered a room. The legacy of Kathy’s kindness, gentleness, and giving spirit will live on through them.

Surviving are her husband of 40 years, Mark Loftus, Jenkins Twp., daughters Leann Anderson and her husband Jacob, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and Kimberly Smith and her husband Petty Officer First Class Brian Smith, U.S. Navy, Hudson section of Plains, grandchildren Elijah, Gracelyn, and John Anderson, Kaylee Smith, and Madeline Hunsinger, (father James Hunsinger), brother John Lavan, Laflin, and sister Mary Vezendy, Stillwater, PA, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral will be held Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 9:00 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston, PA 18640. Interment will be held in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton section of Wyoming. Family and friends may call Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
