Karen Ann Franchella, 69, of Mooresburg, TN, and formally of Plains Twp., passed away on November 9, 2021 at her home on Cherokee Lake.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on January 1, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Josephine (Novichuck) Phillips.

Karen was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Class of 1969 and Luzerne County Community College Nursing Program. She was employed as a registered nurse at Bayada until her retirement.

Karen enjoyed sitting by the lake, coming to PA to watch her grandchildren play soccer and baseball. She also enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Volunteers.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, John T. Franchella on February 12, 2016.

She is survived by her loving son, John D. Franchella and his wife Larissa, Plains, her 2 grandchildren, Nate and Nolan Franchella as well as her brother, Nicholas Phillips and his wife Lois, Plains, nieces Lori Murphy and her husband Dr. James Murphy, Shavertown, Kelly Phillips, Middletown, CT, and nephew Nicholas Phillips, Plains, great-nieces and nephew, Emma, Cara, and James Murphy. Karen will also be missed by her big-dumb-hairy but wonderfully loving dog, Daffy.

Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.
