Julia was born August 29, 1918 in the Hudson section of Plains, Pennsylvania daughter of the late Otto and Elizabeth (Mattick) Binker. Julia attended Sacred Heart School in Plains and was employed as seamstress in the area garment factories. She was a member of Saint Barbara’s Parish in Exeter, Pennsylvania. Julia was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Julia had the whistle of a songbird and entertained her family with rousing renditions of old songs, including, “Oh You Nasty Man.” She touched many lives with her endless generosity and selflessness. Her family and friends will always be thankful for the gift that was her life. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Charles Berretta, sisters Betty Catani and Dorothy DeAnthony, brothers Joseph Binker, Francis Binker and Otto Binker, and infant sister Mary Binker. Surviving are her children Charlene Daly, Scarborough, Maine, Sandra Brown, Laguna Niguel, California, and son Karl Berretta, Harding, Pennsylvania; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, sister Mary Drew, and brothers Paul and John Binker, all of Hudson, PA, several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial for Julia will be held, Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 9:30 am in St. Barbara’s Parish, St. Cecelia’s Church, Wyoming Avenue, Exeter. Interment will be held in Memorial Shrine Burial Park, Carverton section of Wyoming. Friends may call Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street Plains, PA.Julia Josephine Berretta
