Joseph C. Mrozinski, 84, of Woodstock, GA and formerly of Plains Twp., PA, passed away on Monday evening, July 14th, at Woodstock Estates, Woodstock, GA.

A lifelong resident of the Miners Mills and Plains area, Joe was the son of the late Casimir and Sophie (Litanski) Mrozinski.  He attended James M. Coughlin High School, graduating in 1947, after which he enlisted in the United States Army, serving two tours and attaining the rank of Corporal in the 8th Infantry Division.  After his discharge from the Army, he returned to Plains where he worked in the sheet metal trade.  He joined the Pennsylvania Department of Justice as a Sheet Metal Instructor at the State Correctional Institution in Dallas, PA in 1961, where he worked until his retirement in 1991.

Joe was an active member of Sacred Heart Slovak Church until its merger with St. Andre Bessette Parish, regularly donating his time and skills to address the needs of the church.  A skilled artisan, both carpenter and carver, he was a long-time member of the Keystone Carvers Club.   Additionally, Joe was a founding member of the Polka Partners Dance club.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Christine Mrozinski Holloway, in 2002.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Dolores (Brown) Mrozinski, his son Kenny, Acworth, GA, daughter Judy Mahoney, Cortlandt Manor, NY, and his grandchildren Marie Mrozinski, Matt Mrozinski, Katie Mahoney and Michael Mahoney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 10:00 am in St. Andre Bessette Parish, St.  Stanislaus Kostka Church, 666 N. Main Street, North Wilkes-Barre.  Family and friends are invited to go directly to the church on Monday morning.  Interment will be held in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton, PA.  Family and friends may call Sunday evening, July 20th from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street Plains, PA 18705.

No flowers, please.  Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society, 712 S. Keyser Avenue, Taylor, PA  18517 or to the charity of one’s choice.
