Joseph John Balent, a resident of Plains Township, was called to the House of the Lord to rest peacefully on June 30, 2017, with his family by his side.

Joe was the son of the late Michael and Clara (Magnini) Balent.

He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Plains, Class of 1965. He was very proud to serve his country in the U.S. Navy. Joe was self-employed as a master electrical contractor and was a member of Saint Benedict’s Church, Wilkes-Barre.

He spoke and wrote Italian fluently and lived in Pistoia, Italy for 10 years during his childhood. Joe led a very simple lifestyle, but led an extraordinary life. He was truly a gentleman and a generous and respected businessman.

He is also survived by two daughters and sons-in-law; Jennifer and Joseph Calore, Lisa and Daniel Evanofski. They will miss him deeply and love him forever. Joe loved his four precious grandchildren that always put a smile on his face. Mark Joseph Kochuba, Dominic Joseph Calore, Connor Joseph Evanofski, Paige Irene Evanofski. Joe’s family wishes to express a heartfelt appreciation for the kindness and excellent care he received from Dr. Helen Yoo Bowne and her staff at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Eastern Regional Medical Center, Philadelphia.
