John E. Ondrick, 93 of the North End section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Sunday evening, November 19, 2017 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains, PA.

Born in New Britain, Connecticut, he was the son of the late John and Susan (Verba) Ondrick.

John was an Army Veteran of World War II, earning the Purple Heart Medal for wounds received during combat. He was employed by Cleveland Brothers Equipment Co., Inc. (CAT) as a Monitor Service Coordinator and Salesman for 38 years, until his retirement.

John was a member of St. Andre Bessette Parish, North Wilkes-Barre.

John and his wife “Feeney” showed great compassion and love for each other, taking care of Carl and Anna Pavlik with great dignity and respect, and always showed great generosity toward others. He taught us the value in working, saving and being content. We will miss his smile, laugh and generosity. He will not be forgotten, we have wonderful memories.

He was preceded in death by his brother George Ondrick, sisters, Katherine Vinci, Dorothy Camosci, Jane Nadonly, Judy Dubree, and Ann Milewski.

Surviving are his wife of 68 years, the former Josephine “Feeney” Pavlik, daughter Barbara Skopek, Norwich, CT, grandson John Skopek and his wife Mary Clare, Norwich, CT, great-grandchildren Kyle, Jacob, and Kyle Skopek, brother Robert Ondrick and his wife Ann Marie, Bristol, CT, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, November 24, 2017 at 10:00 am in St. Andre Bessette Parish, St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 668 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA, 18705, with Father Kenneth Segar, Pastor, officiating. Private interment will be held in Sacred Heart Slovak Cemetery, Dallas, PA. There will be no calling hours.
