Joan (Thomas) Leitza, 77 of Jenkins Twp., passed away Sunday afternoon, December 3, 2017 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital with her loving family at her side. Born in the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mildred (Zalewski) Borovich. After the death of both her parents, Joanie was raised by the late Peter & Florence Stankiewicz. She was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, and was a beautician for many years. For the last 17 years she was employed by Northeast Auto Auction. Joanie was a loving and caring person who put everyone’s needs ahead of her own. Her great joy in life was being caregiver to her granddaughter, Rhianna, who was the light of her life. Joan and her husband Tony enjoyed cross country trips on their motorcycle seeing and enjoying the sights of our country. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her first husband Gino Thomas, daughter Cheryl Ann Thomas, and son David Thomas. Surviving are her husband of 4 ½ years, Anthony Leitza, Jenkins Twp., daughters Gina Hudak and her husband John, Scranton, and Michelle Pelliccia and her husband Earl, Harding, grandchildren Justin Thomas, Gene Galuska, Rhianna, Maria and Nick Pelliccia, brother Joseph Borovich and his wife Barbara, Miners Mills, her cousins who she was raised with and were more like her brothers and sisters, Gerald Stankiewicz and his wife Donna, Wilkes-Barre, Kevin Stankewicz and his wife Barbara, Mount Airy, Maryland, Barbara Gittens and her husband Dennis, and Carol Biscontini, all of Plains, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Joan will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 8:00 pm at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with Rev. Sam Garnett, Pastor of Calvary Bible Church, Wilkes-Barre, officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
