Baloga, 83 of Lehman Township, passed away Wednesday morning, March 8, 2017 at the inpatient unit of Celtic Hospice, Geisinger South, Wilkes-Barre, after a courageous battle against Lymphoma. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Andrew and Mary (Bartek) Baloga. Jim was a graduate of St. Nicholas High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1951, and was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, attaining the rank of Corporal. After Jim’s honorable discharge from active service, he attended Mount St. Mary’s College, Newark College of Engineering, Rutgers University, and Princeton University. He and his wife the former Margaret O’Donnell, celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on May 26, 2016. Shortly after their marriage, Jim and Margaret moved to Somerville, New Jersey, where Jim was employed by Johns Manville Research Center, Manville, N.J. They returned to Wilkes-Barre in 1973 where Jim was employed by the Redevelopment Authority after the Agnes Flood, serving as Director of Planning and Engineering. He was later employed at the United Penn Bank/Mellon Bank as a Facilities Management Officer prior to his retirement in 1996. Jim was a member of St. Therese’s Church, Shavertown, The Dallas American Legion, Post 672, where he is currently the Commander of the Post, and the Wilkes-Barre Gun and Pistol Club. Jim was also an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. He was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph and Andrew, and his sisters Frances, Marion, and Betty. Surviving are his wife Margaret, Lehman Township, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral will be held Monday, March 13, 2017 at 9:15 am from the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Therese’s Church, 64 Davis Street, Shavertown, PA 18708, with Father James Paisley, Pastor, officiating. Interment with Military Honors accorded by the Dallas American Legion, Post 672, will be held in Sacred Heart Slovak Cemetery, Dorchester Drive, Dallas, PA. Friends and family may call Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Therese’s Church or to the charity of one’s choice in Jim’s Memory.James M. Baloga
