Obituaries » James J. Dunn, Sr. November 21, 1955 - January 17, 2021 James J. Dunn, Sr. 65 of Hanover Township, passed away peacefully Sunday Morning, January 17, 2021 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Born in the Lee Park section of Hanover Twp., he was the son of the late Albert G. and Rosemary (Kelly) Dunn. Jimmy was a graduate of West Side Vo-Tech and was certified in HVAC and worked in the engineering department of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital until his retirement. Jimmy was also Owner/Operator of Dunn Appliance Services. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, where he was an Elder of the church, Past- President of the Oak Grove Club, Hanover Twp. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America where he served as Cub Master and Scout Master as well as the Girl Scouts of America where he portrayed Santa Clause every Christmas. Jimmy was also a Muscle Car enthusiast. He was preceded in death by his brother William “Billy” Dunn, Cousins Mollie Murphy and Kadeshia Fazzina. Surviving are his wife of 42 years the former Debbie Dietterick, daughter Rachel E. Dunn and Son James J. Dunn, Jr. both of Hanover Twp., step-son David L. Reader, Wilkes-Barre, grandchildren Milanna, Hazel, and Hunter, brothers Lt. Col. Albert G. Dunn, Jr. USAF (Ret.) and his wife Lisa, Leesburg, VA and Michael E. Dunn, R.N. and his partner Andrew Buleza, Wilkes-Barre, and two rescue dogs Mollie and Mazie, numerous nieces and nephews. Jimmy’s Family would like to thank Dr. Patrick Kerrigan and staff, the Doctors and staff at Jefferson University Hospital and Magee Rehabilitation, both of Philadelphia, Dr. Marianne J. Santioni and staff, and the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the wonderful care given to Jimmy. Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 22, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1000 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18706, with Rev. Joshua DeYoung, Pastor, officiating. Inurnment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Due to the ongoing pandemic, restrictions have been put in place. Those attending the visitation and/or Funeral Mass, please follow the practice of social distancing and masks are required at the church.
