Helen M. Ruane, of Plains Township, died Thursday morning, October 30, 2014, at Little Flower Manor, St. Luke’s Villa, Wilkes-Barre.

Helen was a life resident of Plains and was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Munnelly) Ruane.

Helen was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School and College Misericordia, Dallas. She was employed by the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital as Educational Coordinator of the School of Technology and attended many state and national meetings until her retirement. Helen was very active in the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science and was awarded the Edward P. Dolbey Award of Excellence.

She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church, Plains, until its closure and merger with SS. Peter & Paul Church, Plains, where she currently belongs.

She was preceded in death by her Brother John in 1997 and Sister Katherine in 1993.

Surviving are her cousins.

Funeral will be held Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 9:00 am from the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc. 20 South Main Street Plains, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in SS. Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, with Father John Boyle, pastor, officiating.  Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Plains.
Friends may call Saturday morning from 8:00 am until 9:00 am at the funeral home.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations if desired may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
