Yanchuk, 92 of the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully Friday morning, May 21, 2021 at his home, with his family by his side. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Chatononis) Yanchuk. George was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre and a Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. George was employed as a carpenter and a member of Carpenters, Local Union 514, Wilkes-Barre. He was a member of St. Dominick’s Church, Parsons. Preceding him in death are his brothers Anthony, Michael, Bernard and Sister, Anna Guillot. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Nancy (Grivner) Yanchuk, son Richard Yanchuk and his wife Maureen, Dallas; daughters Denise Polachek, Shavertown, and Susan Lanning, Laflin, 9 grandchildren who were the center and loves of his life, George, Katie, Bobby, Caroline, Julianne, Danny, Joey, Katherine, and Michelle and his great-granddaughter Ivy, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday May 26, 2021 at 10:00 am in Saints Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, PA 18705, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor officiating. A live stream of the Funeral Mass will be on Saints Peter & Paul Parish FACEBOOK page. Inurnment with Military Honors accorded by the United States Navy and the Plains American Legion Funeral Honor Guard will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call Wednesday morning from 9:00 am until the time of mass at church.
