Fred H. Krueger, 95 of Laurel Run, PA, passed away peacefully, Tuesday morning, November 15, 2022 at the home of his daughter Gretchen.

Born on September 28, 1927 in Passaic, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Fred Herman and Emma (Sask) Krueger.

Fred was a graduate of Clifton High School Class of ‘46 and Fairleigh Dickinson University, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Business.  He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, attaining the rank of Sergeant.  Upon his honorable discharge from active service, he was employed as a claims manager at Liberty Mutual, for over 40 years, until his retirement in 1992.

Throughout his life, Fred always had the travel bug.  The love of his life and forever travel partner, his wife Edythe, made so many memories throughout the years working their way around the world. Even though they enjoyed numerous trips home and abroad, their hearts always landed in Marco Island, Florida with family and friends. Whether home or away, entertaining was also a passion and joy. A wonderful meal and Fred’s famous Martinis were always on the menu. No visit would be complete without a good cigar or a secret handshake from Grandpa.

After his retirement, Fred dedicated his time to volunteerism.  Fred was a volunteer at the Red Cross for over 30 years, a Red Coat Ambassador at the VA Medical Center for over 25 years, and donated over 4500 hours of service to the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.  In 2005 Fred was presented with the Jefferson Award for Public Service.  He was a lifelong member of the Grand Order of the DeMolay, Clifton Chapter.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, the former Edythe A. Poppele on September 10, 2013, and his sisters Agnes Gibson and Mildred Hanson.

Surviving are his son Garett Krueger and his wife Marge, Plains, daughter Gretchen Mirin and her husband Joseph, Kingston, grandchildren, Second Class Petty Officer Matthew Himlin (USN, Ret.) and his wife Kristen , Lieutenant  Samantha Himlin, (USN)  Alex Himlin and Lieutenant Cory Himlin (USN) and his wife Katie,  Kara Krueger, and Kyle Krueger and his fiancée Kennedy Rinish, nieces and nephews.

Conlon, Post 558 Funeral Honors Detail, will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 12:00 pm at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc. 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA  18705.  Private inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family.  Family and friends may call Wednesday morning from 10:00 am until the time of service at noon.
