Francis J. Sott, 84 of Plains Township, passed away Friday evening, January 27, 2023 at The Gardens at East Mountain, Plains, PA.

Born June 13, 1938 in Plains, PA, he was the son of the late Jacob F. and Helen (Danko) Sott.

Francis attended Plains Memorial High School and was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge from active service, he was employed as a factory worker at Medico Industries, Luzerne Products and The Celotex Corporation until his retirement. Francis also worked and helped at Larry O’Malia’s Greenhouses, Plains. He was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Church, Plains, and the Plains American Legion, Joseph E. Conlon, Post 558.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years the former Renate Schmidt on April 18, 2015, daughter Lou Anne Evans, son Michael Burke, brothers Jacob Sott, Jr., and Walter Sott.

Surviving are his sister Dorothy Ostrowski, Duryea, Granddaughters, Nicole Evans and her fiancée Joseph Kulesza, Mountain Top, & Michelle Evans, great-granddaughters Maddie Evans and Brynlee O’Boyle, niece and caretaker Anita Baldoni & her husband Teclo, Duryea, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at 9:30 am from the Corcoran Funeral Home, 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Saints Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, PA 18705, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, officiating. A live stream of the funeral mass will be on Saints Peter & Paul Parish FACEBOOK page. Interment with Military Honors accorded by the United States Army and the Plains American Legion Funeral Honors Detail will be held in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call Tuesday morning from 8:30 am until the time of service at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc.
