Florence Stankiewicz, 90 of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Saturday evening, October 31, 2015 at Fritzingertown Personal Care Living Center, Drums, PA.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Bronislaw and Antonina (Haduck) Zaleski.

Florence attended James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, and was a homemaker all of her life. She was a member of St. Francis Church, Miners Mills, until its merger, currently St. Benedict’s Parish, Parsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband Peter P. Stankiewicz on March 29, 2001, brothers Walter, John, and Stanley Zaleski, sisters Wanda Tortoriello, and Mildred Borovich.

Surviving are her children Gerald Stankiewicz and his wife Donna, Wilkes-Barre, Kevin Stankewicz and his wife Barbara, Mount Airy, Maryland, Barbara Gittens and her husband Dennis, and Carol Biscontini, all of Plains, Joan Thomas-Leitza and her husband Tony, Jenkins Twp., and Joseph Borovich and his wife Barbara, Wilkes-Barre, 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held Thursday November nat 9:30 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street Plains, PA 18705, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Benedict’s Parish, St. Dominic’s Church 155 Austin Avenue Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705. Interment will be held in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Plains.

Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
