Eugene T. Zawatski, 80 of White Haven, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Plains, Twp.

Born in Plains, he was the son of the late Edward and Agnes (Katinski) Zawatski.

Gene was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, and was employed as a Pennsylvania State Trooper for 27 years until his retirement. He was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, North Wilkes-Barre, and a current member of St. Patrick’s Church, White Haven, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Carl, Edward, and Robert Zawatski.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, the former Mary Ann Adamitis, White Haven, son Eugene Zawatski, Jr., White Haven, daughter Brenda Zawatski, Los Altos, CA, grandchildren, Tyler Zawatski, Matthew and Jessica Calderoni, and Brandy Gelezinsky, brother Joseph Zawatski, Plains, and sister Constance Lewis and her husband John, Harding, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 10, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Andre Bessette Parish, 668 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements by the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Eugene Zawatski to support the research of Dr. Jean Hoffman-Censits at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center.
