Erma Paglianite, 100 of Dallas, PA, passed away Monday morning, February 21, 2022 at her home with her husband Joseph at her side.

Born in the Hilldale section of Plains, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Esterina (Sannipoli) Bettelli, who immigrated from Gubbio, Italy in 1921, settling in Hilldale. She was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School.

Erma’s father was a coal miner who had ambitions to leave the coal mines. He purchased a bar and restaurant in the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre and called it Bettelli’s.

Erma with her first husband, Orlando Dignani, opened a restaurant and bar in Moosic on Rocky Glenn Road called Orlando’s Restaurant for 25 years until Orlando’s passing. She then sold the business and relocated back home to care for her elderly parents. In her spare time, she was a hostess for her brother John at Bettelli’s Villa. She later met her present husband, Joseph Paglianite, and have celebrated 40 years of marriage.

She was a member of Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas and the Big Band Society. She and her husband created the Joseph and Erma Paglianite Charitable Foundation and the Joseph and Erma Paglianite Culinary Scholarship Fund of Luzerne County Community College, North Market Street, Nanticoke.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Orlando Dignani on February 18, 1974, and her brother John Bettelli on September 26, 1978.

Surviving are her husband of 40 years, Joseph Paglianite, Dallas, nephews John and Ernest Bettelli, and niece Donna Postupak, step-daughters Johanna Gruber and Lisa Williamson, and step-granddaughter Megan Mastroff, several nieces and nephews.

Erma’s husband Joseph would like to thank Erwine Health Care, hospice nurses Jocey and Masey, and especially Elizabeth Mandlashvili for her years of care and compassion.

Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.
