Emily Stella Maguire, 96, formerly of Exeter, passed away Friday, February 6, 2015 at Mountain View Care Center, Geisinger, Scranton, PA, with her daughter by her side.

Born in Pittston in 1918, she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Eva Stella.

Emily was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, and was a member of St. Cecelia’s Church, Exeter. Prior to her retirement, she worked in the garment industry as a seamstress. Her creative talents led her to many types of handiwork including quilting. Each family member is grateful for a unique quilt left to each one of them, with her loving signature embroidered on the edge. She will remain forever as the loving heart and soul of her entire family.

She and her husband William were classmates & high school sweethearts. They were married in 1936 and raised their children William Edward and Patricia Ann on Scott Street in Plains. William preceded her in death in 1986.She was also preceded in death by her son William E. Maguire, Jr., her sister Louise Stella, and her brothers Miller and Edward Stella.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Dr. Louis DeGennaro, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, four grandchildren and their spouses, Kathleen and Greg Sharer, William and Beth Maguire, Krissa Wichser and Christopher, and Malinda Cirincione and Timothy, ten great-grandchildren, Meghan, Emily, and Ryan Maguire, Braeden and Maren Sharer, Maggy and Liam Wichser, and Julia, Allison, and Christian Cirincione, daughter-in-law Patricia Maguire, Long Island, NY, sister-in-law Rina Stella, nieces and nephews.

Mountain View Care Center and especially the staff at Camelot, will always be remembered by Mrs. Maguire’s family for continually providing an environment of compassion, friendship, respect and dignity.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 12:00 pm at the Church of St. Gregory 330 North Abington Road Clarks Green, PA 18411. Private interment will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Plains. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 11:00 am till time of mass at St. Gregory’s.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice or pray a spiritual prayer for all Geriatric Nursing Assistants.
