Ellen M. McGrady, 86 of Laflin, passed away Sunday evening, October 8, 2017 at her home.

Born in Laflin, she was the daughter of the late Carleton and Rachel (Williams) Hurtt.

Ellen was a graduate of West Pittston High School, Class of 1948 and was a homemaker all of her life. Ellen loved being involved in local politics and she lived for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She looked forward to family gatherings and helping her family in any way. She loved making them her special meals of chicken noodle soup and rice pudding.

She was preceded in death by her husband Francis J. McGrady on September 25, 1997, and son-in-law Richard Garinger.

Surviving are her children Carleton McGrady and his wife Lois Ann, Laflin, Cathleen Garinger, Plains, Francis McGrady and his wife Barbara, Harrisburg, Thomas McGrady and his wife Sandra, Plymouth Township, and William McGrady and his wife Christine, Mountain Top, grandchildren Lesley Ann Johnstone and her husband James, Carla Kouterick and her husband Kyle, Kelly Berstecher and her husband David, Jill Messinger and her husband Jeremy, Scott McGrady and his wife Suzanne, Sarah Romero and her husband Jon, Tommy McGrady and his wife Katie, Megan Jankie and her husband Vinoo, Shane, Ryan, and Matthew McGrady, Bill Garinger and his wife Rachel, and Laurie Marchus and her husband Paul, great-grandchildren Kymberly, Caden, Connor, and Kierra Kouterick, Chase, Brady and Tate Messinger, Rachel, Benjamin, Aaron and Nathanael Berstecher, Elizabeth and Luke McGrady, Rose McGrady, Madison and William Garinger, Noah, Nicole and Noelle Marchus, several nieces and nephews.

According to Ellen’s wishes, Funeral Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family, with her grandson Rev. Scott McGrady, officiating. Private interment will be held in Mount Greenwood Cemetery, Trucksville. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements by the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705.
