Elizabeth M. Rubasky, 86 of Kingston, passed away Wednesday morning, January 7, 2015, at Golden Living – Summit, Wilkes-Barre, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Charles & Genevieve (Smothers) DeCosmo.

Betty was a graduate of Hazleton High School, and was employed in retail sales at various department stores. Betty devoted her life and dedicated herself to taking care of her special needs son, Charles.

She was a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, Kingston, was Past-President of the Luzerne County Association of Retarded Citizens, currently The Arc of Luzerne County, and Past-President of the Democratic Women’s Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles M. Rubasky, Jr., on July 19, 2001, brothers Michael, John, Tony, Robert, and William DeCosmo, sisters Peggy Salus and Helen Matteo.

Surviving are her daughter Karen Crofchick and her husband Frank, Plymouth, sons Charles Rubasky III, Laflin, and David Rubasky and his wife Karen, Plains, grandchildren Stephanie McDermott and her husband John, Frank Crofchick, and Angeline Rubasky, great-grandchildren John and Jackson McDermott, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 9, 2015 at 9:30 am at St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, 339 North Maple Avenue Kingston, PA 18704. Family and friends are asked to go directly to church Friday morning. Private entombment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp.

There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart 600 Baltimore Drive Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
