Elizabeth DeCinti

Elizabeth DeCinti, 82 of Laflin, passed away Monday evening, July 29, 2024 at Allied Hospice, Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Born on May 11, 1942 in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Elizabeth (Martin) Johnson.

Elizabeth was a graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1960 and was employed as a Records Processing Clerk at the Social Security Administration until her retirement. While working at Social Security, she was awarded the commissioner’s Citation, the highest honor awarded by Social Security. Elizabeth was also employed as a supervisor at H & R Block during tax season and owned and operated an income tax business.

She was a former member of St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin, where she was a certified religious education teacher for the Diocese of Scranton, teaching for 10 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Patrick J. DeCinti on December 8, 2022, infant daughter Elizabeth DeCinti, sisters Jean Dougherty and Anne Wiggin, and brother Pete Johnson.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary DeCinti and her husband Daniel Kohl, Bear Creek Twp., sons James DeCinti and his wife Kimberly, East Pennsboro Twp., PA, and Michael DeCinti and his wife Alison, Apex, NC; grandchildren Dominic DeCinti and his wife Hannah, Jake DeCinti, Riley McClure and Noel Elizabeth DeCinti, and Step-Grandchildren Rachael and Dylan Kohl, several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Elizabeth’s wishes, funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements entrusted to the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA  18705.
