Elizabeth “Betty Ann” Lucas

August 4, 2024

Elizabeth “Betty Ann” Lucas, 64 of Plymouth, PA, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning, August 4, 2024 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born on April 8, 1960 in the North End section of Wilkes-Barre, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jerome P. and Jean M. (Purcell) Evans.

Betty Ann was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School where she was a Majorette (Proud of it!!)  She was employed by the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital in the Accounts Payable department for 36 years.

Betty Ann was the heart of her family and friends.  She could always light up a room and bring life to a party with her big smile and quirky dance moves. She accepted people for who they were no matter their faults.  She was generous, kind and loving in ways we all strive to be.

She was absolutely selfless when it came to her family.  Holidays, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas, were her favorite time of the year.  She would cook meals that could serve an army and everyone was invited.  She was happiest seeing the smiles on our faces and our full bellies, taking in every memory from the day.

Betty Ann and her companion Bill of 17 years, were avid New York Yankees fans. You knew if they were winning or losing from up the road.  They did a lot traveling together to different places and many concerts.  But her happy place was being on the beach with Bill whether it was Jamaica or good old Ocean City, Maryland.  We appreciate Bill for showing her experiences she never had before and for loving and supporting her until the end.  For that we will be forever grateful.

As much as Betty Ann loved beaches, concerts, a good glass of wine, and her children, the love for her three grandchildren topped it all.  Nothing compares to the time she got to spend with them at cookouts, swimming in her puddle (as we called it), sleepovers, fires for making s’mores or a simple walk to the park.  Her grandchildren knew how much she loved them and they will cherish the memories of their time together and keep her memory alive in them every day.

She was preceded in death by her husband Keith D. Lucas, Sr. on May 17, 2007, and her sister Kathleen Rice.

Surviving are her children Lora Lucas, Wilkes-Barre, and Keith Lucas, Jr., Luzerne, grandchildren Jayden Lee Davila, Lettie Jean Davila, and Kylee Marie Lucas, companion William “Bill” Stepanski, Plymouth, sisters Jean Marie Lazarski, Newark, Delaware, and Carol Cierniakoski, Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Betty Ann’s Life will be held at the convenience of the family at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA  18705.

Memorial donations may be made to a local food pantry of the donor’s choice in Betty Ann’s memory.
