Eleanor M. Sheridan, 93 of West Wyoming, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 21, 2017 at Celtic Hospice, Geisinger South, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Edward & Xaviera (Lewandowski) Petroski.

Eleanor was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, and was employed by Nesbit Day Care for Child Development for 18 years. Eleanor’s time at Nesbit Day Care left lasting friendships thanks to her loving care and nurturing of the children she took care of. She was a member of St. Monica’s Parish, West Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years James E. Sheridan on October 19, 1996, her great-grandson Maksym Wartella, and her sister Florence Hahn.

Surviving are her daughters Genie Wartella and her husband Jack, Louisburg, NC, Kathy Festante and her husband Vinnie, Bartonsville, and Maureen Szuch and her husband Gary, Ransom, Twp., 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held Friday, January 27, 2017 at 9:15 am at the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Monica’s Parish, 363 W. 8th Street, West Wyoming, PA, 18644, with Father Peter Tomczak, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be held in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton section of Wyoming. Family and friends may call Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
