Edward J. Kuebler, 72, of Plains, PA, passed away on February 4, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born November 16, 1944 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Edward was the son of the late Edward A. and Elizabeth F. (Conniff) Kuebler.

Raised in Plains, Edward was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, class of 1963. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude in History from King’s College in 1968 and his Master of Arts degree in History from Georgetown University in 1972.

Instilled with a deep sense of patriotism and as a lifelong teacher inside and outside the classroom, Edward made history come alive through family vacations to historic sites and battlefields, national parks and monuments.

As a local small business owner of Edward Kuebler and Associates, he served the community providing insurance consultation and expertise as an independent agent for 25 years until his retirement in 2011. However, his passions were music and the relentless pursuit of knowledge, which he helped foster in his daughters. Edward cherished time with his family, enjoyed playing the guitar, and especially loved watching his oldest grandson’s musical talent grow.

Edward is survived by loving wife of 34 years, Yvonne “Bonnie” (Colgary), daughters Susanna Kuebler (Oscar Galindo) of Arlington, VA, Caryn Kuebler of Hyattsville, MD, and Heather Klees (William) of Towanda, PA, brother Father Seamus of DeLand, FL, and grandchildren Avery, Natalie, Emma, and Alan Klees.

Edward also leaves behind many dear friends, including his brothers and sisters in law, Jo Madera, Anthony and Estelle Colgary, Tim and Nina Colgary, and Deby Stefanacci, along with Danny and Betty Ball, Jim Burns, Dorothy Casterline, Sue Ellen Coleman, Don and Joan Devans, Charlie and Ann Fick, Oscar and Irma Galindo, Diane and Dave Germick, Karen Habersky, Carol Komensky, Torre and Donna Lippi, Jack and Joan Michael, Jack Psolka, Rhonda Reese, and Larry and Donna Westawski, and many others.

Funeral will be held Friday, February 10, 2017 at 9:00 am from the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street, Plains, PA 18705, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Saints Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, with Father John C. Lambert, Pastor, and Father A. Seamus Kuebler, O.S.A. Prim., Edward’s brother, officiating. Interment will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Plains.

Family and friends may call Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Forever positive and a man of great faith, Edward was the family cornerstone. His wide smile and twinkling blue eyes lightened everyone’s heart, and his laughter was infectious. He was a generous man, never forgot his humble roots, and welcomed all to his table. With that in mind, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen, 39 East Jackson Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701. The family also kindly asks that you consider making a donation of blood to your local blood bank in Edward’s memory.
